Hit the later parts of Diablo 4 and you figure it out fast: skill points help, sure, but gear is what really carries you. A build can look great on paper and still feel awful once enemies start hitting harder. That's why smart players spend so much time checking affixes, comparing rolls, and deciding what's actually worth keeping. If you're trying to buy D4 items or farm them yourself, the goal is the same. You need pieces that fit the way your character actually plays, not just stuff with a higher item power number.
Why Rare gear matters so muchA lot of people see a yellow drop and barely look at it. That's one of the easiest ways to slow your progress. Good Rares are often the base of excellent endgame gear because they can roll the exact stats you want. Once you find one with the right mix, maybe crit chance, damage reduction, movement speed, or ranks to a key skill, you can imprint a strong Aspect and turn it into something genuinely useful. Legendaries are still important, but often it's the Aspect doing the heavy lifting, not the item itself. Uniques are different. They're less flexible, but when one matches your build, it can completely change how the class feels.
Where to farm without wasting hoursIf you want steady progress, Nightmare Dungeons are still one of the best places to live for a while. You get gear, glyph experience, and a decent shot at upgrades all in one run. Helltides are just as important, especially when you're hunting for a certain slot. Being able to focus on chests for weapons, boots, or armour saves a lot of frustration. World Bosses and Legion Events are worth jumping into as well. They don't take long, they break up the grind, and sometimes they drop exactly the thing you've been missing for days. You'll still get unlucky now and then. That's Diablo. But farming the right content makes the dry spells easier to deal with.
Small choices that make a big differenceOne mistake loads of players make is selling almost everything for gold. Gold matters, obviously, but crafting materials matter more than people think. Salvaging extra gear gives you room to upgrade, reroll, and fix weak pieces later. That's huge once your build starts taking shape. It also helps to stop chasing every shiny drop and start asking a better question: does this item solve a real problem? Maybe you need more survivability. Maybe your resource generation feels bad. Maybe your cooldowns are too slow. The best upgrades usually fix one of those issues straight away, and you can feel it the moment you head back into a dungeon.
Getting your build online fasterThere's nothing wrong with grinding, but there comes a point when bad luck just gets tiring. Trading can help, especially for strong Rare items and extra gold, though you've always got to be careful with random deals. Some players would rather skip the hassle and use eznpc for game currency, materials, or gear support so they can finish a build and actually enjoy playing it. That makes sense, honestly. Diablo 4 feels best when your setup finally clicks, your damage starts flowing, and every new run feels like a chance to push a little further instead of fixing the same problems again.
